This was our second time as a family (10adults/10 kids ages newborn-13) and we all enjoyed ourselves so much once again. The lodge is spacious, simple, yet has everything we need. We made our own meals and kitchen was stocked well with pans, utensils and dishes. The kids loved the beach and water! When a few storms rolled through the brought them inside, the played games in the spacious living room and rec room. We tell all our friends how wonderful it is and to keep it in mind for a family trip! It’s like you own private hotel in a beautifully secluded area with everything you need to enjoy time with family or friends! Kirksville has all anything you might have forgotten and we enjoyed finding treasures as the hitching post-an amish run discount grocery. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoy lost branch! We hope to make it back sometime when the blueberry farm across the road is open!

As a side note, the owner was gracious enough to accommodate us last minute when the vrbo we planned to stay at had bad flooding and we had to cancel. The owner had planned to work at the lodge over the days we wanted to come last minute and he changed his plans to allow us! Thank you!

My family has been coming to the lodge for 7 years now. I just made a reservation for 2019 too. This property has everything we could need on our family weekend. It’s private, very clean and spacious both inside and out. It works so well for my family because we come in from 4 different states and the location is pretty centralized for all of us. When i first found the property online the pics looked too good to be true. It is as lovely as the pictures indicate. We will continue to come for a weekend every summer as long as we all are able.

We've had our reunion here two years in a row now. Since we're all traveling, it's nice to find a furnished place with dishes, bedding, etc.

A nice and quiet, relaxing place that is close to golf in la plata and town of you need something. The pond/lake is very clean, and the kids live swimming in it and fishing.

We have stayed at this lodge for a few years now and love how the space accommodates our extended family. We love that each family gets their own bedroom & private bathroom and the large space to gather 19 people in the kitchen/living room area. This lodge is only a short drive from town, but it's in a very peaceful & secluded location.
Each summer we enjoy relaxing at the lodge by swimming in the pond, fishing, or spending time together on the wrap around porch. Gerald, the lodge owner, has been easy to contact and we enjoyed the property improvements like the trail and big picnic area.

We've used Lost Branch Lodge for our Leadership Retreat for about 5 years. It was nice to see how they've "freshened up" the decor. They replaced the living room furniture and added additional seating, which we really appreciated. Everything we need is there for a day retreat. I hope to get to use it for a family gathering one of these days. There are certainly enough bedrooms to accommodate a large reunion, and it would be especially fun in the summer with the pond and firepit available.

The accommodations were perfect for our family of 17, lots of space to spread out and have privacy, if needed, yet large communal area for playing games and spending time together. Enjoyed a fire in the fire pit and walked the trails a couple of times. The owner went out of his way to come and help when the furnace went down. This lodge was very clean and tidy. If we do a family retreat again, we would consider coming again for sure!

We were so excited to stay at Lost Branch Lodge for Truman University's family weekend. Our daughter is a freshman and we wanted to surprise her by bringing ALL her family and closest friends. Lost Branch made it very easy - it held all of us with plenty of extra room to relax and play. The best part of the facility is that each bedroom has it's own bathroom, so there was no waiting on others to take showers or disturbing others in the night. The rec room was perfect for our mix of college students, teens and toddlers. I especially appreciated the attention to detail like providing a ball pump and extra needles, along with a tub of toddler toys. It is rare to find these types of things in a cabin. The kitchen had everything you could imagine for cooking for a large group and was very well organized. We loved every minute and it was time well spent together. We will definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lost Branch Lodge for our family reunion. We were 12 adults and 14 children, and this 8-bedroom lodge accomodated us well. The lodge is well-maintained and up to date. The large kitchen/dining/living area allowed us to mingle, play and eat together comfortably. The pond on the property was a great source of fun for the kids. The pond is stocked with sunfish that the kids enjoyed catching and releasing. We had some minor maintenance issues at the lodge during our stay, but the owner and property manager were very responsive. Overall we had a great stay and would gladly go back another time.

We had a wonderful time with family at Lost Branch Lodge. It was so nice to each have our own bathroom. The place was very clean and served our family very well. The kids spent a lot of time in the pond swimming. We would recommend adding a play/swing set for the younger kids and a ping pong table in the Rec room would be a nice addition. We were there in blueberry season and had a nice time picking berries just across the road. We hope to come back!!

This lodge was perfect for our family of 16. The rooms were great and having our own bathrooms was a plus. Bring your own bar soap or body wash for the shower. It was the only thing not supplied. Everything was there that you could need. Everyone enjoyed fishing, making s’mores, cooking out, and just being together either outside, in the large great room, or in the kitchen with plenty of seating. Buy some groceries and sit back and enjoy good quality time together. It was the perfect place for all of us and our graduation celebration!

This property exceeded our expectations. We were in town for Truman State's graduation and had family coming in from multiple states. Upon check-in I had a few questions and my calls were returned within minutes. The back rec room was the best thing ever!! It was filled with games, balls, and seating and the kids had a blast. If we ever get to this area again, this will be the first place we look to book.

With life being so busy, our family looks forward to this weekend every year. The upgrades/remodel were wonderful and a nice surprise. The kids used the jungle gym and we had a beautiful weekend to play in the lake. We have done this numerous years and looking forward to next year again! It gives us the time to unwind, get caught up, and enjoy bonding!

We had a family reunion with 26 people of all ages. Perfect location. Everything was so easy and we were able to truly enjoy the event without worry. Fun game room, nice bedrooms, large living areas and dinning areas. Lots of outside fun! Overall, couldn't have asked for anything better.

My family celebrated our parent's 50th Anniversary here, & it was absolutely perfect! There was 24 of us, ages 1 -77, & we all enjoyed our time here! The kids were well occupied with swimming, playing in the rec room, space outside to play wiffle ball, etc! The adults joined in with the activities, & yet there's plenty of space to sit & have conversation & drink coffee too! We cooked some delicious food in the well furnished kitchen... everything we needed was there! Plenty of towels, charcoal grill, 2 coffee makers, plus a lot of extras we didn't even use! It rained real hard the first night & so we didn't get to go on the trail & do as many outdoor things, but with the space inside, no one got bored! We also enjoyed blueberries from the blueberry patch across the road!

We definitely enjoyed our time & will recommend this lodge to others!

Great Family Get Away

Our family was very happy with the accommodations at Lost Branch Lodge. Even though we hit a very rainy stormy weekend, the power outage, etc. we found plenty to do while we were there. We were even able to pick 3 buckets of blueberries between showers! The rec room was wonderful for our teenagers. We appreciated having a bathroom in every bedroom. We would definitely return again.

We came to the lodge for a quick weekend getaway because it was a travel halfway point for our extended family. We hadn’t gotten together since the pandemic and the lodge offered us a perfect location. We loved the sleeping accommodations. They offered us space for each of our family groups with private bathrooms; a HUGE plus. It rained most if the weekend but we didn’t even notice. We were able to play games (both inside and out on the side patio) as well as gather for all of our meals in the spacious and super well stocked kitchen. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a great weekend!!
