A Hidden Treasure-Beautiful and Very Clean

We stayed from September 15-17, 2017 for a weekend visit to Truman State. The owner accommodated families visiting their students at the nearby University because the hotels were booked.

Initial Impression: The place looked exactly as shown in the photo's on their website. It was very clean and the grounds were also very well maintained. The pond is beautiful and well kept.

Rooms: Our room had a queen with a single bed. The room was fairly small but clean. The bathroom was fine for two people.

Towels were plentiful, additional towels were available in the laundry room.

Main Living Area: Large fully equipped kitchen and great room were very clean and comfortable. It was nice having a full sized refrigerator and freezer to store our food/beverages. The room was spotless and had an attached half bath which is convenient. Unlike a hotel, you will need to bring your own food. However, the kitchen has plates, utensils, paper towels, appliances, and most of what you need.

Grounds and Pond: Beautiful and well maintained. No algae and the grass surrounding the pond appeared to have been recently mowed which made walking around very easy and pleasant. The canoe was a nice touch and allowed additional access to this approx one acre pond. The bass and pan fish are reported to be excellent here. We had limited time to fish but wound up catching an approx 10 lb catfish. The water is somewhat clear and visibility is about three feet on a sunny day. There are nice fire pits with some seats if you want to cook or socialize. Volleyball net was in great shape. The land is very well kept.

Overall value: This is a great opportunity for a group of people to enjoy a private get-a-way. The lodge is very clean and the owner and caretakers obviously care about keep their guests happy. We could not have been more pleased about our stay at this beautiful location.

It is definitely worth the money and the guests should do their part in keeping the place in good shape so the resort does not have to incur unnecessary cleaning/repair costs. We liked the "no pet" rule as it makes for a more relaxing experience.

Perfect for a family get together

We had a great time with 19 people. Plenty of space to spread out if we wanted or stay gathered together. Enjoyed swimming, canoeing, and fishing. We would definitely recommend the lodge and consider staying there for our next gathering!

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Lost Branch was an awesome place to stay! Enough room to accommodate all of the "Get- a-way with Grandma Bev" weekend! And even without tv, the kids were entertained by the "game room", and fishing and swimming in the "lake". The kitchen was well stocked with cooking housewares, and was glad for the extra refrigerator in the game room for soft drinks, etc. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom! We appreciated that when the weather was 98-101 degrees.

The grandkids think this is the greatest "get a way" place!

Thanks so much for sharing!

Peaceful, serene lodge in a beautiful setting that is great for family gatherings!

We had 4 generations of family from 4 states gather at Lost Branch Lodge in July 2017. We were all very pleased with the property and the amenities. The layout is great for large family/group gatherings, having plenty of indoor and outdoor entertaining space. The independent bedrooms and bathrooms work out well for having a variety of families come together, while still maintaining some personal space. The beach/pond were well received by all as the kids spent plenty of time down there swimming, fishing, and paddling around in the canoe (and we had plenty of catch-and-release opportunities as the fish were routinely biting).

A few notable family quotes:

Nephew running through the hallway - "This is the best vacation ever! It's like we rented out an entire hotel for ourselves!"

Parents - "This place is great! We should do this again next year."

Sibling - "I'm surprised that they supply so much stuff around the property. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are toys and games, and there are plenty of things to do inside and outside."

We will certainly be returning in years to come! Thanks!

Very nice for large family group

Very nice lodge. Set up was great for large family gathering. Separate bedrooms each with its own bathroom was wonderful. Clean, spacious, relaxing setting. Kitchen fully stocked so we had no issues cooking for a large group. Kids had fun with fishing in the pond or playing in the garage "rec area". Only 10 minute drive to grocery store. Will definitely stay here again.

      Wonderful experience!

My basketball team and I stayed at the lodge for a nearby basketball camp and came was amazed by the accommodations that were provided. It was a wonderful, peaceful area and the lodge was clean, comfortable and left plenty for all of our kids to do. We were able to grill outside, cook, get out on the pond and just hang out. There wasn't a complain from a single player or coach on our team. Hands down one of the best places we've stayed and we intend to do it again!

Family Time at Lost Branch Lodge

This was the second year for our all-family time at Lost Branch Lodge. It is the perfect place for us providing plenty of space with bathrooms with each bedroom, well equipped kitchen, table space for the whole family to eat together, a lake that the grandkids can play in all day, a canoe to row and fish from, fire pits to use to make smores, etc. etc. We had a wonderful time!

Our stay was perfect, everyone was comfortable
and left very happy.

A great property for large groups. So much space and so well appointed. Easy to find and so peaceful. The grounds are beautiful and everything very clean. Just wish it was located near our town so we could stay more often!

Quiet Getaway, Close to Town

Lost Branch Lodge is the perfect distance away from town, still readily accessible, yet still a quiet place to relax. It was very easy to find and very well kept. The little pond was probably my favorite part, such a neat extra. The place was huge, clean, had everything you could possibly need, and a great little getaway. Very happy with my stay and would highly recommend.

    Place of Peace.

We've stayed at the Lost Branch Lodge for many year for our staff retreat. The facility is perfect for our needs. The location sets my crew at ease and helps them get away from everything. The facility is warm, welcoming, clean, and well provided for. The owner and property managers are great to work with and always show great kindness. We'll be back next year for sure!

Awesome, thank you.

Used the Lodge for a full day Leadership retreat. It is a perfect fit for our group. We have food catered in, but it is well equipped if a family or group wanted to do their own cooking.

Great for a family reunion

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Lost Branch Lodge for our annual family reunion. It was great having bedrooms and bathrooms for the entire group. The lodge had everything we needed for accommodations, making meals as well as indoor and outdoor activities. It is such a peaceful and private setting, and only a short drive to Kirksville for provisions. We enjoyed bonfires by the lake, taking canoe rides, fishing and relaxing in the rocking chairs with our morning coffee. This was our first stay at the lodge, and we look forward to returning next year.

Wonderful time!

We had family members coming from various parts of the state as well as Minnesota, so this place worked perfectly for us. A little bit of everything to keep everyone occupied. Kitchen was fully stocked with pots/pans/utensils, etc - which was VERY helpful as well! Hope to be back again soon!

    Family Reunion

The listing and desciption are pretty accurate. The property was clean and very well maintained. Customer service was great. 18 of us stayed there and were very comfortable. Lake was perfect for swimming and fishing. Absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back.

Eleven of my co-workers from the Department Of Corrections and Law Enforcement enjoyed this rental for two days. It was so quiet and peaceful we didn't want to return to our jobs. The place was clean and better than some motels that we have stayed in. We had so much fun fishing. Next time we'll stay longer.

Lost Branch Lodge

Recently my family needed to go to Kirksville for a funeral. We could find no hotel accomodations, so we were pleased but a little anxious when we found the Lodge online. We could not have been more pleased. There were eleven of us altogether; the weather was foul, but the boys went fishing anyway, we grilled burgers, and gathered together around the big kitchen tables. Despite the somber nature of the funeral, we had a blast back at the lodge. Clean, well-eqipped and spacious, it was perfect.
